Some smaller titles, and visual novels

Still not made up my mind if Visual Novels are games or not, but then "What is game?"

Bryan "BrySi" Simon

Stepping into some new territory with this post. It is not a soundtrack and not a cover, but rather songs about video games. However, since this blog is about "Game Related Music" it is still kosher to post.

Today we will talk about Bryan Simons, aka BrySi,

I had never heard about this guy, but I found him on a related link from Miracle of Sound (More on him in upcoming blog post) His YouTube channel turned out to be rather fun, so I decided make a blog post about him.

Bryan is 31 years old, likes video games and eating pizza, so he sounds a lot like me :)

Don't know what more I can say about this guy, check out his Facebook if you end up enjoying his music.

On Spotify he has been quite industrious 3 albums and lots of singles. I will only list the albums as the singles are all in the albums, but you can check his full Spotify profile here.

Games I never heard about

Clearing out the last soundtrack links on my Google Docs, so it the offerings today are somewhat obscure, but still worth a listen.

Daniel Tidwell

I been talking around this guy for quite a while, he has come up a lot when I talked about cover bands, and I have always put him as the sort of gold standard for pure covers.

Sure, brentalfloss sings and his covers are great, Year 200X do metal covers as well, but with a somewhat dirtier sound, Entertainment System are much like Year 200X in that regards, TheOneUps, much more Jazzy  Funky, Daniel Tidewell has a very clean and very skillful cover of the songs he does.

He also does my gold standards for covers: The Moon (Ducktales) and Bubbleman (Mega Man 2), and I want to throw in my new bonus song there, Bloody Tears (Castlevania II).
(Again, where is my Bionic Commando Cover?)

Daniel has actually done a lot of non-game related stuff as well, but we don't care about that stuff on this blog, so we have 2 albums, 1 EP and 2 Single to share.

Kane lives!

Just discovered that EA has released the Ultimate Music Collection on Spotify, while I had this in mp3 format because I own the Ultimate Edition of C&C, this is much more handy. Also found some C&C albums I missed out the last time.

Oh, and lots of other good stuff, Oddworld, Perfect Dark, Aion, so much good.

More covers, great ones and not so great one...

A post dedicated to clear out a backlog of links that I have gathered with covers of game music that I did not know where else to put. Some stuff is fantastic, like the Metroid Metalothers... well, judge for yourself.

Like normal, I am not familiar with the C64 stuff, nor anything pre-NES times, so I don't know how to make a value judgement on those.

Yamasa Sound Team

This is a weird one. I stumbled over this artist known as Yamasa Sound Team, and found a bunch of anime looking art. I took a peak over at Game-ost.com and discovered that yes indeedy, these people make game music. But I have never heard about this stuff.

I did some searching, and it seems it is mostly soundtracks for Japanese Pachi-Slot games. Since I don't speak Japanese my ability to research these guys is very limited. All i know is that these things seem to be soundtracks for specific versions of their Pachi-slot games, and they are on Spotify, so they quality for a blog post.

Shout-out to Naseer and Spotify Search

I guess a lot of you are wondering how I am gathering up all these soundtracks? Well, to tell the truth I cheat, and have two major sources for my content, and a lot of filtering.

First off, we have a Spotify user called Naseer Alkhouri this guys I suspects knows about this blog, and has gotten a few links of it, but he also provides me with with TONS of content. His playlist Gaming on Spotify has been a huge help for sourcing content.

My other shout-out goes to the Chrome App: Spotify Search Plus

This app is quite handy as it gives a complete search rather then the limited search that Spotify gives me. Its a rather small app so not a huge bunch of users, and the creator is on Facebook for handy contact.

Outside of this, searching for random games, searching related artists, repeat, is how all this content is generated.

If you have any tips on how to better search for new gaming music on Spotify, please let me know :)

Portal and DMZ

I'm not so sure about these APM collections, I think they contain the songs from the game, but since they don't have the official stamp of approval, use at your own risk.

brentalfloss

If you like Video game covers, my guess is that you already know this guy. Brent Black or better known as brentalfloss.

This guy is known for his youtube channel where he makes some pretty funny videos, but luckily he also has a bunch of stuff on Spotify, and that makes me able to make a post about him.

I mentioned Brent in a post back in May of last year, and my statements still stands true, I love this guys take on Moon Theme from Ducktales. I guess that is how I rank most game music cover bands, what is the quality of the covers Moon Theme, Megaman 2 - Airman and Bionic Commando - Area 1/Main theme. (But then, Bionic Commando cannot be outdone since this and this version)

I also have to comment on the production quality of his songs. I love the Advantage, but brentalfloss vocal covers beat them hands down.

Anyway, he has done work with Random (upcoming post about him as well), madinthemoon and Dave Bulmer, (those dos not have anything on Spotify so no post for them)

Battlefield 2, Lollipop chainsaw and more!

Today we have a mix between well known stuff, some mobile games and some things I have never heard about.

Classical Covers and Collections

Todays topic: Covers and Collections.

Lots of good covers here, some bad, and when it comes to the C64 games, I simply don't know.
